Animal Hair Resistant Scrubs

Last updated at: 2023-03-15

Whether your pet is a serious shedder or leaves the occasional bit of fluff lying around, pet hair is a normal part of living with animals – but also one that can be seriously irritating. Even vets – whose job it is to work with animals – can look unprofessional if their scrubs are covered with fur from our four-legged friends.

The secret to our hair-resistant scrubs is all in the material.

· Synthetic fibre-rich garments like ours tend to attract less hair and dust.

· Our Avery scrub is polyester rich, so easy care and fur repellent. The fabric in Avery also has a tighter weave so less/fewer holes for hairs to get stuck in.

· There’s less static cling in the fabric we have chosen for our scrub range so fur and hair will brush off easier, and is less likely to stick to the garment

· Finally, our scrub fabric is smooth in texture. Fabric with high texture or even with a peached finish tend to attract and trap pet hair easily.

So, whether you’re a vet who handles animals all day or a nurse whose cat sleeps on the scrubs that you’ve added to your floordrobe, here are some ways to de-fluff your scrubs before, during and after your shift, so your scrubs remain a professional, hair-free zone.

Make lint rollers your best friend! – Now you may already have a real BFF but there must be room for one more. Lint rollers are a super quick and easy way to roll that fur off your scrubs before you start work, or in between clients if you work at a veterinary clinic. Don’t have one handy? Sticky tape has the same effect (it might just take a bit longer!)

Give it a once over - If you work in an environment where you are likely to pick up fur or hair, brush yourself off before putting your scrubs in the washing machine as other garments might pick up the fluff.

Keep it warm – Doing a warm wash - 30/40degrees – is great for our fabric as it’s an easy-care wash and wear type garment. You can wash it at higher temperatures like 60 degrees, but it just might need a quick steam or iron once dry. Dry your scrubs on a hanger – which will help smooth out crinkles, saving time and reducing ironing time!

Here at Biz Care, we provide durable, long lasting quality scrubs that also fit well and are highly functional with all the pockets and loops you could need. Our fabric quality is tested vigorously and developed by Australians for Australians. Just remember – if you’re ever in doubt, always follow the care label on each garment.
